Debra Killackey
Licensed Clinical Social Worker #SW9555

Hi, my name is Debra Killackey. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with over 20 years of experience. I am an expert on loss – loss of a loved one, a dream, a relationship, or the loss of a way of life.  Yes, I understand grief in the traditional sense, having worked for Hospice for over 14 years, but grief doesn’t always involve a death.  It’s a natural human condition that involves the struggle to adapt to a new way of life, typically accompanied by the following emotions – a sense of shock, denial of this new reality, a desperation for change but not knowing how to achieve that change, anger over being put in this difficult position, and then eventually, learning to accept the realities of a situation (whether we wanted it that way or not.)

I don’t know what you are going through – but most likely, you can relate to what I’ve just said and realize how hard it can be to create a satisfying life without compromising your peace in the process. That brings me to another type of loss – the loss of who we thought we were as people. We live in a chaotic world that is constantly asking things of us.  This can leave us drained and make it difficult for us to show up for our loved ones as the best version of ourselves. I will help you to get back to your best self and help you reach the goals that have remained just out of reach.

I have an accepting, non-judgmental counseling style. Whether you’re feeling anxious, depressed or struggling in your relationships with others, I would love to be your partner in finding solutions. I’ve worked with a wide variety of clientele: children, couples, client’s struggling with substance use issues, mental health challenges, problematic family dynamics, and domestic violence, as well as the loss of a loved one.

Client’s have said they appreciate my patience, flexibility, willingness to meet them where they are at, openness to gently confront areas of possible conflict, and the ability help them measure their progress over time. It’s completely rewarding to watch people make the changes they hoped for at the beginning – with a few extra positive unintended consequences along the way.

If you can relate to what I’ve said, I would love to work with you.  You can view my availability and schedule your appointment directly online by clicking on the orange “Request Appointment” button above.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.
